Like the graphic at the top of this page, the horizon of our lives today, and into this fall, may look foggy or clouded in a mist (to borrow from our 1 Corinthians 13:12 theme text above). As we are preparing for this Virutal Summit, we are looking at three simultaneous layers of fog that are worldwide: 1) a major health challenge;
2) an economic crisis; and 3) broad social anger, grief, and fear regarding race and the systemic inequities about how we treat each other and this planet. To that I would add that the traditional means of addressing these concerns — government and religion — are not seen by many as up to the speed and complexity of events or able to do what it takes to make more than cosmetic improvement.
